Katie (she/they)

Katie (she/they) first discovered yoga at 16 and instantly fell in love with the practice. After moving from Rhode Island to Connecticut in 2017, she found both community and a sense of belonging at Breathing Room. Coming from a fast-paced background in marketing and management, yoga became her daily opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and come home to herself.

Katie completed both her 200-hour and 300-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings at the same studio that first welcomed her with open arms. She has also completed training through Accessible Yoga School with Jivana Heyman, deepening her commitment to creating inclusive, adaptable, and accessible yoga spaces for all bodies and abilities. Additional trainings include Yoga4Recovery and SMART-meeting certified.

Katie welcomes all people exactly as they are. She believes that you are your own best yoga teacher—she is simply a guide. Her classes blend mindful movement, breath awareness, and thoughtful alignment in a supportive environment where students are encouraged to move at their own pace. Drawing from both traditional yogic teachings and contemporary approaches to accessibility, she offers clear guidance, practical modifications, and opportunities for self-reflection that help students build confidence, cultivate awareness, and develop a sustainable personal practice. Whether through movement, breath, or stillness, Katie encourages students to trust their own experience, honor their unique bodies, and cultivate a deeper connection with themselves both on and off the mat.

Outside the studio, Katie is passionate about giving back to the greater New Haven community through donation-based classes and accessible yoga offerings for underserved populations. As a foster and adoptive parent, she brings a deep appreciation for resilience, flexibility, and the many ways people find connection and belonging. When she's not teaching, you'll likely find her in the kitchen baking her New Haven County-famous chocolate chip cookies.
